What happens when an immovable force meets an immovable object in the world of cinema?

Answer: you get Godzilla vs Kong.

A new poster showing the film's two biggest apex predators has just dropped on the film's official Instagram page, teasing Warner Bros.' long-delayed film pitting Japan's Godzilla against the US' King Kong.

The post also includes the caption 'TRAILER SUNDAY' in all caps.

The news follows after Warner Bros. dropped a teaser clip lasting just a few seconds of Kong and Godzilla coming to blows.

Excited fans couldn't contain their excitement on Twitter, while some also debated who would win:

Kong has notably grown much taller since the Skull Island film, which was set in the early 1970s, but the director of that film, Jordan Vogt-Roberts, explained that he was merely an adolescent at that time, but has since grown.

Ironically, the film boasted the tallest version of Kong yet, standing at around 104 feet (32 metres).

Fans of the two monsters will likely be hyped at the prospect of the two reuniting on screen for the first time in nearly 60 years, and to add to the suspense, it has been revealed that there will be a conclusive victor to the fight, unlike in the original 1962 film.

Godzilla vs. Kong will be directed by Adam Wingard (You're Next, Blair Witch, Death Note) and will star Alexander Skarsgard, Rebecca Hall and Danai Gurira, while actors Millie Bobbie Brown and Kyle Chandler will reprise their roles from the 2019 Godzilla film.

The film will debut in cinemas and can be streamed on the service HBO Max in Ireland from May 21.

The film is set to be the fourth film in the 'MonsterVerse,' which consists of 2014's Godzilla reboot, 2017's Kong: Skull Island and 2019's Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
