The American singer and rapper Silentó, whose 2015 single 'Watch Me' inspired a popular dance craze known as the Nae-Nae, has been charged with alleged murder.
The 23-year-old, whose real name is Richard 'Ricky' Lamar Hawk, was arrested by police in DeKalb County in the US state of Georgia when police officers responded to shots being fired at 3.30am in the Panthersville area.
He is reported to have murdered his cousin, 34-year-old Frederick Rooks.
The victim allegedly sustained fatal gunshot wounds to the leg and the head.
Although the incident occurred on January 21st, the news only came to light following the release of jail records from DeKalb County jail yesterday.
This is not the first time Mr. Hawk has been arrested: in August of 2020, over the course of two days, he was charged with a domestic dispute, and for breaking and entering into a stranger's home armed with a hatchet.
He later claimed to have been looking for his girlfriend when he entered the home.
The following month, Mr. Hawk was charged with speeding and reckless driving.
