Vaccine registration for 59-year-olds opens Tuesday

Monday, May 3

People in their 50s will be able to register online for a Covid-19 vaccine from Tuesday.

The HSE online portal will open to those aged 59 from Tuesday.

The roll out will continue on Wednesday for people in their 58s and will continue for each subsequent age each day.

Bookings can be made online and by calling the special HSE phone line on 1850-24-1850.

A PPS number, Eircode, mobile phone number and an email address is required to register online.

Meanwhile, the HSE has not recommended jumping age groups, or giving vaccines in parallel with different age groups.

Vaccinations will continue to be administered under the planned age sequence, oldest to youngest in descending order.

The HSE, meanwhile, has confirmed that the 788,000 doses administered through April, cited today by Chief Executive Paul Reid, includes vaccinations given on 29 March and 1 and 2 May.

The data covers the weeks of April, calculated as Sunday to Sunday, taking in days outside of April.

The official HSE statistics show that for the calendar month dates in April, over 707,319 vaccinations were administered.
