Tragedy as man in 20s dies in north Dublin crash

A man in his 20s has died after the car he was driving struck a pillar on the Old North Road in Finglas in north Dublin yesterday evening.

A male passenger in the car, also in his 20s, was taken to hospital with what gardaí described as non-life threatening injuries.

The incident happened around 8.30pm and gardaí at Finglas are appealing for information from any witnesses.

The body of the deceased driver has been removed from the scene to the mortuary in Whitehall where a post-mortem will take place. 

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are en route to the scene. The road is currently closed and local diversions are in place.
