Murder investigation launched over Newbridge stabbing

The investigation into the death of a man who was stabbed in Co Kildare earlier this month has been upgraded to murder.

The man, who was in his 30s, was injured in the incident in Newbridge on 7 April and treated at the scene before being taken to St James's Hospital in Dublin where he died on Saturday.

Following a post-mortem examination, gardaí say they are now treating his death as murder.

A man, also in his 30s, has been charged in connection with the investigation.

Gardaí have renewed their appeal for any witnesses, or anyone with camera footage from the Main Street/ Thomas Street area of Newbridge between 5.30pm and 8pm on 7 April to contact Newbridge Garda Station 045 431 212, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
