Dog shot by garda during house search in Dublin

A dog was shot by a garda during a search of a house in Coburg Place in Dublin yesterday.

A search of the house was carried out by the garda detectives and an Armed Support Unit, when they were attacked by a dog inside the house.

The dog received veterinary treatment but did not survive the injuries sustained.

A quantity of controlled drugs with an estimated street value of €5,000 was uncovered during the search.

A man in his 40s was arrested at the scene and is being questioned at Coolock Garda Station.

The Garda Crime Scene Unit have attended the premises to carry out an examination.

As an official firearm was discharged, the incident has been notified to the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission.
