€50,000 cannabis and two arrested in Co Clare

Two men have been arrested after suspected cannabis with a street value of €50,000 was seized by gardaí in Co Clare.

The drugs were discovered during the search of a wooded area near Clarecastle yesterday.

The two men, one in his mid-40s and one in his late 50s, are being questioned at separate garda stations in Co Clare.

In follow up searches at a number of locations in the Ennis area, approximately €2,000 of suspected cocaine and drug dealing paraphernalia were also seized.

Gardaí said the searches and arrests were carried out as part of ongoing investigations into the activities of criminal groups involved in the sale and supply of controlled drugs and related criminal activity in the midwest region.
