Martin Compston has said what we're all thinking. We'd be devastated if the show is done and dusted and there isn't a series seven.

The actor who plays DI Steve Arnott agreed he would be gutted if there was no AC-12 comeback.

Speaking to ES Magazine, the actor said: "You've got to respect people have invested so much in this thing and everybody has a different version of their ending, but yes… it's been a pretty wild few days.

"But also with everything that's just gone on this week I think everybody, including the audience, needs a bit of time away from it. So we'll see."

Whether there may be another series, he said: “The genuine answer is that we don’t know.

“But that’s nothing new. Jed always takes time away from it. I think what I would say, the two things I would say, is that the idea that I would never work with all the guys again together would be heartbreaking."

In the series six finale it was revealed that hapless DCI Ian Buckells was H which 'definately' didn't wow viewers.

The former footballer said about his other career in the spotlight: “I knew my levels. If I’d had the chance to play for Celtic, I’d have kept playing football, no two ways about it.

"But I knew I wasn’t going to get much higher than the level I was playing at and I kind of instinctively knew I was good at acting. I just felt at home.”
