Britain's Duke of Edinburgh has been admitted to hospital after feeling unwell, Buckingham Palace has confirmed.

“The Duke’s admission is a precautionary measure, on the advice of His Royal Highness’s Doctor, after feeling unwell.

"The Duke was taken to hospital on the advice of his doctor as a precautionary measure and is expected to remain there for a few days," the statement said.

Philip, aged 99, was admitted to the private King Edward VII Hospital in London on Tuesday.

It is understood that Prince Philip does not have a coronavirus-related illness and walked into hospital unaided.

The Queen and Prince Philip both received their coronavirus vaccines by a doctor from the Royal Household at Windsor Castle in January.
